CAIMAN, PANTANAL

An encounter with the Pantanal's fauna, flora and culture

Caiman, Pantanal

Miranda, Mato Grosso do Sul

Created by a nature-loving conservationist, Caiman is a 53,000-hectare oasis that keeps alive the fauna, ora and culture of the Pantanal in Mato Grosso do Sul. Within its immensity, this authentic Pantanal farm still holds a reservation of 5,600 hectares, the Dona Aracy RPPN (Private Natural Heritage Reserve), created to guarantee the perpetual preservation of the biome. Caiman is home to over 500 animal species and serves as the headquarters for pioneering conservation projects in Brazil, such as Onçafari [“Jaguar Safari”] and Instituto Arara Azul [“Hyacinth Macaw Institute”], as well as Projeto Papagaio Verdadeiro [“Blue-fronted Parrot Project”]. From the daily routine on the farm to the typical cooking, guests experience a complete immersion in the local lifestyle, with safaris, nighttime wildlife watches, horseback riding and canoeing to see bird flocks and the splendid sunset gilding the waters.
