ROUTES OF BRAZIL

Route of Biodiversity

Notice there are dolphins accompanying the boat in the black waters of Anavilhanas in the Amazon. Glimpse the unexpected jaguars in the Pantanal, saved from the brink of extinction by the project Onçafari. Spot the tapirs that approach the banks of the river to drink water, protected by the initiative Antas na Trijunção, or the giant anteaters and maned wolves wandering freely through the Cerrado as you pedal along dirt paths. Get to know the project Muriqui House, which promotes the survival and reproduction of one of the largest endangered primates in South America, in Ibitipoca. Watch the splendid spectacle of the flocks of birds and butterflies under the sun of the Caatinga. Listen to the songs and photograph the colorful rare birds of the Atlantic Forest or the endemic species cataloged in Cristalino Park in the Southern Amazon. Smile with the monkeys or sigh with dolphins, whales and turtles on boat trips along the coast of Brazil. Sail up the river, enter the mangrove in Alagoas and witness the land crabs playing hide-and-seek, with a stop to see the giant creatures protected by Project Manatee. Accompany the baby turtles leaving their nests and heading for the sea at Project Txaitaruga in Itacaré. With over 125,000 animal species and 50,000 plant species spread across six terrestrial biomes and three large marine ecosystems, Brazil is truly a giant by its very nature when it comes to biodiversity. No other place on the planet is so rich in fauna and flora, and no other contemplates so many distinct biomes in the same territory. To protect this immense natural heritage, several BLTA members are developing conservation projects and promoting safaris of observation that contribute to the preservation of endangered species. After all, it is knowledge that gives way to our genuine desire to preserve.
