Itacaré, Bahia
An improbable connection between Scandinavia and Bahia gave rise to an authentic, unpretentious style of hospitality that only Barracuda has. It all started 20 years ago when a group of Swedish friends arrived in Itacaré and made friends with a Brazilian couple, him a native and her from São Paulo. The exchange of experiences was built into this refuge, which combines contemporary design, sustainability, well-being and architecture that integrate from a natural overlook on a cliff at the coast of Praia do Resende. Accommodations range from suites with ocean views to spectacular 800-square-meter houses with personalized service. The poolside restaurant serves up dishes combining traditional Bahian recipes with Scandinavian simplicity. Equally as warm as the Bahian spices is the hotel team, most of whom are Itacaré natives, providing special curation for those seeking to experience the region’s culture and nature. With the community actions of the Yandê Itacaré Institute, the hotel also works to preserve local biodiversity and traditions.
